Youth Bursary Awards – Do Something Amazing!

Do you, or have you ever volunteered for the RVS? Are you aged 16-25? Did you know the WRVS Benevolent Trust provides bursaries? If you’re taking part in an event or opportunity that will benefit either your personal development or your future career we can assist you with the costs. We offer up to £2000, so you could do even more amazing things. Previous awards have helped young RVS volunteers work on amazing projects in Africa, India and Australia.

Read Here How Some of Their Experiences Affected Them

“Overall this trip was a life changing one with many new friends and experiences and is one that I would repeat in a heartbeat. If it wasn’t for the funding from the WRVS I would not have been able to go to Japan in the first place and so I am eternally grateful to them for their extraordinary generosity.”

” This has helped me greatly in my future development as I can pursue a career as a professional minibus driver and it will also make the transition to obtaining a full PCV licence for large buses much easier. I am very grateful for the Youth Bursary for supporting me through my training and helping me so much in my career development. “

“The trip taught me so many things that I genuinely believe will stick with me for the rest of my life and I am so grateful that I got to go and I cannot wait to do something similar in the future. In terms of how this affected my life, well I believe that I wouldn’t be enjoying life in general as much as I am now because I have so much more confidence now and I know this new-found confidence will take me far.”

Top Tips On Completing Your Application

  1. Check Our Criteria

Before you start your application, it’s a good idea to read through the criteria on page 1 first, just to make sure you meet the criteria requirements.

  1. Print Off Your Form

Print off the application form here. All applications must be submitted via the completion of our Youth Bursary application form. Please note that we are unable to consider applications via any other means.

  1. Find a Black Pen

We cannot accept a form completed in blue ink or pencil. It must be black ink! Also, make sure your writing is as clear as possible so that your application cannot be misread.

  1. Read Through the Form First

It’s a good idea to read through the form first so that you can gather any information needed beforehand.

  1. Ready to Start?

So, by now you should have checked your eligibility against the criteria, pre-read the form so you have all your info to hand and have a black pen ready. Grab yourself a coffee and some quiet time and get ready to start.

  1. Complete ALL Sections

When completing your application form, be sure to answer all the questions asked on the form in full. Without full details we are unable to consider your application, so if in doubt it is always best to err on the side of caution and provide too much information.

  1. Get Someone Else to Check Your Application

It’s a good idea to get someone else to read through your application just to make sure you have completed all the sections.

  1. Don’t Forget to Sign and Date the Form

You’re nearly there but please don’t forget to sign and date the form in TWO places; the permission slip on page 3 and on page 6. We cannot proceed with the application if you don’t sign it. Please also note that by signing the form you understand and agree to the Terms & Conditions on page 6.

We also have a handy checklist on page 6 so check this to make sure you have included everything with your application.

  1. Post or Email Your Completed Application

You can submit your completed application to us via email or post:

Postal Address: WRVS Benevolent Trust, PO Box 769, Chesterfield, S40 9NY

Email: enquiry@wrvsbt.org.uk

Remember the closing date is the first week in March so that our Board can make decisions during the March Board meeting.

Top Tip: If you are posting your application we would strongly advise you to make a photocopy of the form and all supporting documents before you post it just in case it should go missing in the post. Saving a copy of the completed application will save you no end of time and headaches if you need to re-submit it.

We really hope this guide has helped you, but if you do have any questions, please call us on

07968 098275. You might have to leave a voicemail but we WILL call you back!

Finally, one last point worth mentioning: we assure you that we will deal with your grant application in the strictest confidence.
